Fiberglass Yarns
Fiber glass yarns consist of a defined number of E-Glass filaments of certain nominal diameter, brought together to form a yarn. The yarn’s structure is fixed and protected by a size and a slight twist, generally in Z and S directions.
FIBERGLASS YARN
The basic raw material of these yarns is alkali-free E-glass with a maximum alkali content of < 0.8%. They are divided into three types: alkali-free alumina borosilicate E-glass, alkali-free aluminosilicate glass, and alkali-free high SiO2 content with a thermal resistance of 1000+°C.
The yarn usually consists of 400-1,600 whole glass fiber threads with a filament diameter of 5.5, 6, 8, 9, 11, or 13 μm.

Sizing treatment:
Silane sizing, silanised starch sizing, paraffin wax
Parameters:
Glass fiber twisted yarns are delivered on bobbins and on warp beams.
The weight per bobbin are 0.7 kg, 2kg, or 4kg.
The width per Warp beams are 1,000 to 3,200 mm.
Designation:
e.g. EC11-136x1Z28, where:
EC – type (E-glass yarn),
11 – filament diameter in μm,
136 – linear density in tex* (* – the weight of 1000 m of yarn in grams),
x2 – number of yarns,
Z28 – twist direction and the number of twists per meter.
Twisted yarn is made of single yarn, twisting two or more yarns against the direction and winding it on the bobbins or beams. Technical definitions of twisted yarns are the same as single yarns. The twisting process presents a yarn with a higher tex number and twist, thus improving its technological features for further textile processing: higher tensile strength and friction resistance, better resistance to mechanical damages, etc.
- Better chemical resistance, particularly in acidic, as well as alkaline and water environments.
- Lightweight, high tensile strength.
- Low thermal conductivity.
- Fireproof, mold-proof, and moth-proof.
- Good electrical insulation.
- Low static, excellent mechanical properties.
- Smooth finishing and regular
Yarn that is composed of 400 to 1,600 whole glass fiber filaments (as known as continuous fiberglass threads) is a plain textile product in which the yarns are bound with sizing and the first twist and has a wide application in weaving. The filament diameter is from 5.5 to 13 µm. The broad selection of yarn fiber types and sizes makes it possible to use them in all various applications.
- Glass yarn fabrics of electronic quality for manufacturing printed circuit boards (PCB, Printed Board Circuits);
- Braided electric sleeve;
- Leno fabrics for reinforcing external thermal insulation composite systems (ETICS; external insulation of buildings – facade cladding);
- Strengthening of adhesive/paper tape;
- Firming non-wovenfabric;
- Fabrics for reinforcing cardboard;
- Glass fiber wallpaper for interior design;
- Reinforcement for circular saws;
- Electrical/thermal insulation material, etc.
- high-tech fields require heat resistance (up to 1000°C) materials(such as aviation and space industry, chemical industry, metallurgy, special clothing manufacturing, power production, machine building, etc.
- High-silica materials can be used anywhere where low thermal conductivity, inertness to most chemical reagents, resistance to organic and mineral acids (except hydrofluoric acids and phosphoric acids), weak alkali, water, and high-pressure steam is required.
